The first time he realized what it was like to fly was also the first time he knew what it was like to be truly free, but also truly alone.

The stallion was soaring through the heavens, in the far east the sun was already turning the sky orange with hints of darkness at the edges of the universe. Nothing could compare to this beauty. His coat and wings seemed to absorb the light, causing him to shine like gold.

Then there was a sudden surge of wind that gripped at his massive wings and started pulling him downwards to the ground. It was as if fate was guiding him to his future, a young girl standing with a camera, ripped jeans, and two pigtails.

The landing was brutal, there was a slight discomfort in his shoulders, but he was thankful that he had landed on the lush green grass, and not a hard surface.

The dark haired girl picked a handful of thick grass and held it in front of her, she was frightened, but she did her best to try and hide it. He carefully walked closer to her, surveying his area every now and then. 

After he had accepted the grass, he allowed her to stroke his giant wings, she pulled at his hair as if to pull herself up. Then, without a second thought, he lay down in the cool grass and let her climb onto him. When he was sure she was seated properly, he took off into the sky.

That was the first time he realized what it was like to be truly free, and he would never be alone again.
